Katya Kim Holmes
Artist Bio
Born in Kazakhstan and now residing in Atlanta, Georgia, with a background that spans the Midwest and West Coast since 2001. These diverse settings have influenced my artistic journey. I've always had a passion for visual expression, so I pursued studies in fine art and art therapy. After years working in healthcare and mental health, I founded Holkim Studio to focus more on my own creations. Outside of my art, I also teach yoga and am excitedly stepping into the world of motherhood.
Artist Statement
My art draws from my personal experiences, influenced by nature, my yoga practice, and the diverse cultures I've encountered. Through abstract paintings and paper sculptures, I aim to explore the balance between freedom and stability, wilderness and comfort.
I express emotions and sensations in my work through intentional color choices and rhythmic patterns, creating a slow and transformative process. I hope that when viewers engage with my art, they'll take a moment to reflect on the dual nature within us all—our desire to explore and our need for stability.
My work is centered around celebrating unity amid diversity, finding inspiration in nature's beauty, and the lessons from my yoga journey. These elements continuously push the boundaries of my creative exploration.
